Morgan Valley

Morgan Valley, UT is situated 35 mi northeast of Salt Lake City through Weber Canyon, on the east side of the Wasatch Range. Mountain Green at just under 4900’, is the easternmost town in the Morgan Valley, just 10 minutes south of Snowbasin Resort with easy access to Salt Lake City, South Ogden, and Park City. Founded in 1862, Morgan was named after Jedediah Morgan Grant, father of Heber J. Grant, who served as president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An early route of the Hastings Cutoff ran through the Morgan Valley and down through a narrow gorge in Weber Canyon. The Donner Party avoided going through the Morgan Valley in order to speed up their journey. In 1855, Charles Sreeve Peterson and his family became the first white settlers to take up permanent residence in the Morgan Valley after cutting a road through Weber Canyon.

A beautiful, open mountain valley cut by the Weber River, I-84, and The Union Pacific Railroad, the primary industries are agriculture, manufacturing, mining and tourism. The Morgan Valley’s rural charm and easy access  the Salt Lake City, along with its close proximity to Snowbasin Resort and East Canyon Resorts, make it increasingly attractive for residential community development. Round Valley Golf Course is a relatively quiet, scenic 18 hole public course located on the east side of Morgan.

Some of the subdivisions in Mountain Green include: The Cottonwoods at Mountain Green, Rollins Ranch, and Whisper Ridge.

Events include the 6th Annual Morgan Valley Marathon, 1/2 marathon, 10K and 5K fun run on July 30, 2016. The Weber River offers whitewater rafting, tubing and great fishing. East Canyon reservoir, 15 min. South of Morgan, has boating, fishing, swimming, paddle boarding and more.

Morgan County Fair will be held at the Morgan County Fairgrounds on July 30th through August 6th, 2016.

The Fair will include 8 days of activities: Parade, 4H-Horse Show, Jr. Rodeo, Special Needs Rodeo, ATV Rodeo, Demolition Derby, RMPRA Rodeo, and a  variety of games and entertainment.
